St Nicholas Chapel

Dundee, Angus Scotland UK

[Roman Catholic]

St Nicholas Chapel stood on a rock at the west side of the harbour, and gave to its site the name Nicholas Craig, later called to Chapel Craig. The chapel was probably built in the early 12th century. At the end of the 1700s the rock was connected to the mainland when the roadwayk to the Ferry Pier was built. The site is believed to have had a defensive tower in the 15th century. A slaughterhouse occupied the site at a later time. There is now no trace of the craig itself.
