The church, one of the oldest in Kolomna Kremlin, was built in 1501. St. Nicholas served as patron of the Kolomna association, merchants and visitors. The church was restructured in 1848, adding two chapels. The church was closed in 1929. It was used for a sports school until 2002 when it was again opened for worship. Much of the church was damaged and destroyed, including the upper story and the bell tower. Restoration continues.
