Bishopscourt, near Kirk Michael Isle of Man
Anglican (Church of England)
St. Nicholas Chapel, the bishop's chapel dating from the late 1600s, was rebuilt in 1814. Bishopscourt was home to the Bishop of Sodor and Man. It was extensively renovated from 1854-60. The chapel was rebuilt again in 1858 when it was reconsecrated. The chapel was designated a pro-cathedral around 1895 when funds necessary to re-roof the cathedral were not raised. It served as the pro-cathedral until 1979 when the house was sold. The parish church of St German, in Peel, was then named the Cathedral Church of St German. The chapel, still consecrated, is now in privately owned.
