Begun in 1967, St. Nicholas Chapel mission met in an unused church and next in the former Santa's Toy Factory building. When full parish status was granted in 1991, the first priority was to build a worthy place of worship. The new church, designed to blend in with the rural character of the area, while also being a prominent part of the landscape, was dedicated in 1996. St. Nicholas Fest is celebrated with a potluck dinner on the Sunday closest to December 6th. In 2015 the church became part of the new St. Francis of Assisi Parish, with the main office in Dale.
