Nondenominational (Protestant)
St. Nicholas Union Sabbath School was built in 1874. The building burned in 1922 and was rebuilt in a different location because it was so close to the St. Nicholas Colliery that was expanding. The new building was dedicated in 1924. The worship space was on the second floor and the third floor overhangs the lower floors. Though it was always known as a church, it didn't become a full church until 1974 and could then receive members. While installing a new heating system, the church met with the Zion Baptist Church in Mahanoy City. The congregation dwindled during that time and the remnant joined with the Baptist church. The last service was held in 2009. Though used for Patriots rehearsals and concerts, the property was listed for sale in 2012.
