[Prebyterian/Unitarian]
The Free Christian Church in Lancaster: The earliest dissenters met for worship from 1687. Some time after 1721 they began to meet in a building near St. Nicholas Street and this building was replaced by this new chapel in 1786. After the Presbyterians moved to Queen St Chapel around 1879, Unitarians occupied the chapel. In1965 the St. Nicholas Street Chapel was demolished to make way for St. Nicholas Way shopping centre, now St Nics St Nicholas Arcades, as part of the town centre redevelopment. Two of the original stained glass windows were installed in the new Scotforth Road Unitarian Church, now known as Rowley Court, an event venue.
