Roscigno Vecchia, Campania Italy
[Roman Catholic]
The old village, first settled around 1000, was abandoned from 1902-08 under the continuing threat of landslides. Roscigno had been rebuilt three times as the result of flooding and landslides on the unstable ground. The church was completely rebuilt in 1770 using remains of the old building destroyed by landslide. The inhabitants moved 1.4 kilometres to build a new village Nuovo Roscigno, known simply as Roscigno. The area is part of the National Park of Cliento and Vallo di Diano.
