Church of England (Anglican)
Located on the Isle of Purbeck, this little Norman church, with some Saxon remnants, is high on the cliffs and appropriately dedicated to St Nicholas, the patron of sailors and fishermen. Vikings destroyed an earlier building. The church is the most complete Norman church in Dorset. The tower was not intended to be so stubby, but probably out of concern that the foundation could not support a full tower, was topped off.
