Church of Saint Nicholas—Raushsckaya Embankment Sayaitskoye

The church on Sadovnicheskaya Street was built on the embankment from 1741-1759. Adventurer Fyodor Konyukhov built it as a monument to friends who had died exploring. 20th century explorers honored here include Jacques Cousteau, Thor Heyerdahl, Yuri Senkevich, and Aleksandr Kolchak. The church was closed from 1933 until 1992. The original icon was put in the Tretyakov GAllery.
