Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker Studentsy

Tagansky, Moscow City (Central) Russia

Common Faith Russian Orthodox

The church, built around 1700, is in the center of Semyonovskaya Village located in Zemlyanoy Gorod near Taganskiye Gate. The central altar, under the five domes, is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan. The side chapel of St. Nicholas is under a single dome, with rounded apse. The original bell tower was replaced by a porch in the 19th century. A freestanding gate with bell tower was built in 1777, but demolished in the 1930s when the church was closed. After reconstruction from 1966-69, the church was consecrated in 1996 as a center for the Moscow Common Faith Community (coreligionists are in between Old Believers and Russian Orthodox).
