Preobrazhensky Val Street, Moscow City (Eastern) Russia
Old Believers Russian Orthodox
The church was built in 1784 in the Preobrazhensky cemetery as the cathedral chapel for the Fedoseevsky group of Old Believers. It was called the Dormition of the Theotokos. Altars were added in 1857 as the Fedoseevtsy did not have priests or altars and consecrated as the Church of Common Faith (Common Faith is intermediate between Old Believers and the Russian Orthodox Church). It was the St. Nicholas United Faith Old Believer Monastery from 1873. The church has one single dome. It was occupied by another group in the 1930s who sold the front part to Old Believers of Novopomorskoe soglasie. They are still there.
