Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker

Yastrebino, Leningrad Oblast Russia

[Russian Orthodox]

The original wooden church was built before 1500. The stone church was built from 1885-87. The church was closed for five months in 1930 and closed again in 1939. During the Nazi occupation it was opened in 1942. Lack of a priest led to inactivity after 1960. Closed in 1961, it was used for a school workshop in 1962. In 1963 it was adapted for use as a sports hall. Unused in the 1990s, it was badly damaged, losing its cupolas. In the mid-1990s it was registered, restored, and services held again.
