Church of Ss Nicholas Wonderworker & Czarina Alexandria Great Martyr

Ushaki, Leningrad Oblast Russia

Russian Orthodox

The church was built from 1902-08, near the road from St. Petersburg to Moscow. It was in memory of the wedding and coronation of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra. The parish was organized at that time. The church was closed from 1938-41. Opened autumn 1941 until 1943 (the priest was arrested and condemned in 1944). Closed in 1945, it was returned to believers in the mid-1990s and public worship resumed. Fire damaged the church in the early 2000s; it has been restored.
