Krasnoselsky, Moscow City (Central) Russia
Russian Orthodox
The church was built from 1711-15. A new tower and stone wall were built in 1790; they remained until 1920. The side altar/chapel (yellow) was added in 1894. The church was closed in 1927; it was badly damaged—the tower dismantled, iconostasis and paintings destroyed. In 1929 the end was taken down and the bell tower broken. 1951 saw more damage as a loft was built, the wall of the apse removed, and decorative details and plaster facades destroyed. The church was used as a garage, among other uses. Restoration began in 2000, with the first liturgy held in 2003. Work to restore the church continues.
