The church was the first "winter" church built in Suzdal. It was built in 1712 and is paired with the summer church of Ss. Peter and Paul (1694). As a winter church, it is low and small. The church was restored in 1954 when it was returned to its original design. St. Nicholas is part of the Parish of Ss. Peter and Paul.
