Church of St. Nicholas Moskvoretsky

Zamoskvorechye, Moscow City (Central) Russia

[Russian Orthodox]

The first church on the site was wooden, built in the 6-7th century. The name is taken from the China-Moskvoretsky gates to the city. A stone church was built on the site in 1651 and again in 1730. The final church was built in 1831. The church was closed in 1929 and demolished in 1936 when construction of the Moskvoretsky bridge began.
