The Benedictine abbey was founded in 1083. Burned and partially destroyed in 1570 during the wars of relion, it was rebuilt in 1663. Confiscated at the French Revolution, the abbey was sold off in parts in 1791. In 1804 the main abbey building was sold and transformed into a castle.
