The church originally was part of a convent, founded before 1601. The monastery closed in 1753 and the church given to the parish. The church was closed after the 1917 revolution. In the early Soviet era it was put under state protection and funds were allocated for repair. Before World War II it was in use as a warehouse. In 1952 it was given to the Old Believers Pomeranian consent community. It is a protected monument and still used as the Old Believers Church.
