The monastery is on a hill on the village outskirts. The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in 1757. It is the monastery's cathedral church. The oldest buildings in Rylsk are the monastery's three churches from 1733, 1747, and 1757. The monastery was closed in 1925. It was occupied by German invaders for about two years, 1941 - 1943. The monastery was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1991 and services began again that year.
