The church was established in 2004 to serve the many German residents living along the Turkish coast. The chapel is located in a former internet café building, now the church's community center. St. Nikolaus-Alanya and St. Nikolaus-Antalya form the parish St. Nikolaus Gemeinde. Services are primarily ecumenical.
