Kelvedon Hatch, Essex England UK
[Roman Catholic / Anglican]
The earliest record of a church is 1344, though the St Nicholas dedication may be traced back before the Norman Conquest to Ailric. Saxon Ailric had a small church built and dedicated to St. Nicholas. The church, dating from at least 1272, was next to Kelvedon Hall, north of the village. The church was rebuilt in 1753 and abandoned in 1895 when a new church was built in the village. The bell, font and pews were moved to the new church. A German rocket damaged the old church in 1945. The building has continued to collapse and is presently dangerous.
