Frankfurt an der Oder Germany
[Roman Catholic / Reformed]
Ecumenical
The church, built in 1230, is the oldest church in Frankfurt (Oder). After the Reformation it was used as a granary, becoming a Reformed church in 1657 and French Reformed to serve Huguenots after 1685. In 1817 the church was home to a civic theater. French and German Reformed congregations united in 1851 and renovated the church. It was renamed as a peace church in 1929 and was a Protestant Church of Peace from 1959-1974. It was used as a warehouse until 2005 when it became a European Ecumenical Center, still known as the Church of Peace. The Greek Catholic Parish of St. Nicholas is one of the congregations using the church.
