Crkva Svetog Nikole

Vrlika Croatia

Serbian Orthodox

The church, the oldest in Vrlika, was built in 1618. The bell tower was added in 1801; the iconostas is from the mid-1800s. It has been the target of arson attempts during wars over the centuries. It was severely damaged in the Yugoslav Civil War in 1972 and restored in 1974. Extensive renovations begun in 2015 gave the church new doors, windows, new metal staircase in the tower, and restoration of the exterior.
