Amrakits (Mykolaivka) Armenia
[Russian Orthodox]
The church, one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Armenia, was built in 1846 by Ukrainian Cossacks. It was restored between 1910 and 1914. The church was active until the death of the priest in 1988. It was severely damaged in the 1988 Spitak earthquake and was abandoned for almost 40 years, in disrepair and awaiting demolition. The icons and vestments were transferred to the Church of St. Martyr Tsarina Alexandra and the Chapel of St. Archangel Michael in 2009. The iconostasis has long been in Russia. The church has been restored and discussions may lead to transferring the church to the Russian Orthodox Church or some kind of shared use. Since 2020 the church has attracted visitors, more each year.
