The church dates from the 12th century and has been rebuilt and renovated many times. Originally Gothic, with Romanesque features, it was rebuilt in Gothic style in the mid-1300s. It was apparently too small and a Romanesque nave with tower were added to the west side. The church was next redone Baroque in 1770 and classicism in 1794. The last renovations were done in 1938.
