Chapel of St. Nicholas
HMS Renown

Plymouth, Devonshire England UK

[Church of England (Anglican)]

The chapel was dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and ships. HMS Renown, built in Govan, Scotland, was the lead ship in her class of battlecruisers for World War I. Renown didn't see combat and was reconstructed twice between the wars. Between wars, she took royalty on foreign tours. In World War II she searched for German ships, took part in the Norwegian Campaign, escorted convoys, and transported Winston Churchill and staff to Allied conferences. She was later transferred to the Eastern theatre, returning home in 1945 and sold for scrap in 1948.
