Nikloskierch

Luxembourg City (am Neumarkt) Luxembourg

[Roman Catholic]

The church was built in 1250, serving as Luxembourg City's parish church for over 500 years. Though it was the most important city parish, the church itself was small and modest. The church was demolished in 1779 and the parish transferred to the former Jesuit church, now the current St. Niklos and St. Theresia cathedral. It was known as Nikloskierch until the 1900s. Statues and furnishings from the St-Nikolauskirche are now in the Cathedral and the Geschichtsmuseum der Stadt Luxemburg.
