Old St. Nicolaaskerk Gothic three-aisled cruciform church with wooden barrel/wagon vaulting. Origins date to 1310. In the choir is the 1370 gravestone 1370 of Gijsbrecht van Amstel—founder of the city and church—

also the tomb of Aleida van Culemborg. Renaissance tower from 1532 designed by Alexander Pasqualini and spire from 1928 designed by Michel de Klerk. —Historical Circle IJsselstein
