The parish was founded around 1385 and a new wooden church built in 1611. The church and people within were burned by Cossacks in 1648. Rebuilt in 1667, the church survived for nearly 100 years. A new church was consecrated in 1767 and served until 1912 when it was stripped. The chapel on the site is still in use today. Construction of the new church began in 1909 and it was dedicated on 6 December 1912. Damaged during World War I, the church was restored in 1921.
