Ungheni (Danukteni) Moldova
This stone church replaced an earlier wooden one in the 1880s. It was built on the highest point so it could be seen from the village. Soviet authorities closed the church in 1964, causing the building to deteriorate. Parishioners began to repair the building in 1981. However, the authorities confiscated the materials and prosecuted the perpetrators. The church was reopened in the early 1990s.
