Willerwald, Grand Est France
Roman Catholic
The first Saint-Nicolas church was built in 1777; it was replaced with a Gothic church in 1910-11 whose tower was 60 meters high. French artillery fired on it in 1940, believing that Germans were using it as an observation post. The church was demolished during 1941 during the German occupation when the tower was blasted. The present church was built in 1955-57.
