Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker
Temple of St George the Victorious

Vitebsk Belarus

Belarusian Orthodox

The building actually contains two churches: the lower level St Nicholas the Wonderworker and the upper St George the Victorious. It was originally the depot for a former airport. The church was built, or reconstructed, in 1995, the 50th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The idea for a memorial church, honoring the victims of the 1812 war, took hold in 19th century. The idea was revived to build a church in memory of the victory over fascism in World War II.
