The church was built in 1865 and originally known as the Belmont Congregational Church. It became known as the St Nicholas Congregational Chapel in 1910. It was the last Congregational Chapel in Aberdeen and the final service was held in 1995. The congregation continued to worship at the Kirk of St Nicholas and is part of the Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting. The building is now used as a nightclub; first The Priory, then Redemption. It is a Category A listed building.
