Campanile de Saint-Nicolas—Basilique-cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille

Lille, Hauts-de-France France

Roman Catholic

The cathedral took its name from a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary that was protected by a "trellis." When church bells were donated in 1874, the two planned towers had not yet been built. So a temporary 35 metres high tower was quickly built. It is still standing, as plans changed and the two towers were never built. The campanile houses a carillon and bells on three floors. The tower is a listed historical monument.
