St Nicholas Church

Loxley, Warwickshire England UK

Church of England (Anglican)

This site was given to the Cathedral Church of Worcester in the 8th century. Though Saxon stonework remains, the present church was consecrated in 1286. The church was substantially rebuilt in the 18th century, with only the tower remaining the same. The church is on the grounds of Loxley House, with a footpath from the road. It is said the original Robin Hood, Robin of Loxley (Robert Fitz Odo) was born and lived in Loxley House and is buried in the churchyard. (The legend of Robin Hood developed from three separate stories merging together.)
