The first church dedicated to St. Nicholas was built on the other side of the river Mamer around 1570. It was demolished after 1838, when the new church across the river was built. The church was restored in 1926. When the Nazis blew up the bridge in 1944, the church was damaged. The three bells were installed in 1965. Kopstal village has 644 residents.
