The church, built before 1336, was later used as a guildhall, a school room, and prison. Around 1815 it was repaired and restored to use as a chapel. At that time it had a "Scolds Cage" for nagging women. The whole building was rebuilt in 1862 and now belongs to the Parish of St. Martin (East Looe) with St. Nicholas. The church, a Grade II listed building, is situated right on the quay.
