St. Nicolaaskerk

Oosterwierum / Easterwierrum Netherlands

[Roman Catholic]

The Frisian village of Easterwierrum is now not so far down and the new hamlet does not have an old village church. The medieval tower, around 1200, stands on the mound of the old village. The nave deteriorated and was razed in 1905. The village coat of arms shows the old tower and the three gold balls of St Nicholas, patron saint of the village.
