A church has been in this place since around 1418. This 1853 building, the 3rd on the site, is an eclectic octangonal building, first serving as a Reformed church, the Groote Kerk. Closed in 1972, it became a cultural center, the Koepelkerk in 1978. Since 1989 it hs been the Roman Catholic St Nicolaaskerk. There are two historic organs, one from 1742, and the other, 1865. The foundation was renewed in 1999 restorations. It was declared a national monument in 1976.
