Kastoria Greece
Greek Orthodox
The chapel was probably built after the 1300s. It has been a refuge for fishermen, who helped build it, from the Byzantine period. All that survives inside is the wood-carved iconostasis and 4 portable icons, two of St. Nicholas. If there were frescoes, they've been covered with multiple layers of lime. The small chapel is part of the Mavriotissa Monastery and sits on the lakeshore, built on the rock of the Dragon's Cave. The chapel is now a pilgrimage site.
