Danuteni Moldova
Moldovan Orthodox
The church was built in 1882, replacing an earlier wooden one, and was consecrated in 1887. The church has nine towers and is the oldest church in Ungheni. It was built on the highest point so it could be seen from the village. Soviet authorities closed the church in 1964, causing the building to deteriorate. Parishioners began to repair the building in 1981. However, authorities confiscated the materials and prosecuted the perpetrators. A few icons and the iconostas were saved and the church reopened in the early 1990s. Parishioners contributed to the restoration.
