Padula, Campania Italy
[Roman Catholic]
The name "De Donnis" or "of the Women" comes from an earlier annexed religious institute for women or else as a distortion of "De Donnis" meaning "of the Lords," who may have had a role in the church's history. The church, though it had been totally abandoned, is of architectural importance for Southern Italy. It was built from the 6th to the 18th century. The trichora, trefoil-shaped memorial chapel, dates from the earliest period. The nave was added between the 9th and 12th centuries.
