The church was built in 1611, replacing an older medieval building. It was restructured with Baroque elements in 1770 and restored to its original style in 1885. Badly damaged by war in 1918 it was restructured and embellished in 1921. In 1984 it was declared of historical and artistic interest. The bell tower was built in 1951; a clock added in 2016. The main door has nine copper panels showing two St. Nicholas legends. A St. Nicholas window was installed in 1988.
