Church of Ss. Nicholas, Stanislaus & John the Baptist

Ostromecko Poland

Roman Catholic

The St. Nicholas parish dates from 1445, with a modest wooden building. A brick church was built in 1630, when the church was Lutheran. The church was stripped of decorations, monuments, vestments, and liturgical vestments. When ownership changed, the church returned to Catholicism; it was expanded and embellished with Baroque style. Consecrated in 1675, it received the three patron saints. In 1940 the priest was arrested and died in the Sachenhausen concentration camp. The tower and roof were renovated in 1954; the interior in 1959.
