Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

Kura Spit Azerbaijan

[Russian Orthodox]

The church was founded in 1891, funded by fishermen in Kurinskaya Kosa and Zharovka. It had a wooden dome topped by a cross. The icons of St. Nicholas and the Holy Mother of God were in gilded icon cases. The church was consecrated in 1900. It was closed and burned in the Soviet era. Residents rescued icons under cover of night, though their fate is unknown.
