Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

Ulan-Ude, Buryat Republic Russia

Russian Orthodox

In the 1900s a small wooden church was built near the railway station. After being closed in 1937 it was used as a waiting room for rail passengers. It soon became derelict. Veteran railway workers requested a small chapel be built near the station in 2002. Two years later, 2004, the East Siberia Railway decided to build a church with donations from the railway workers. The building was finished in 2005 and consecrated in 2006. Renovations book place in 2023, including new exterior icons; work continued in 2024.
