Zapillya Ukraine
Ukrainian Orthodox
There's been a church in Zapillya since at least 1531. A wooden church was built in 1763; it stood until 1944 when Poles set fire to it and burned the village. Residents decided to build a new St. Nicholas Church and began fundraising in 1994 and a certificate of registration of a religious community was issued in 1995. In 1998 the site was consecrated and the foundation poured. A priest was appointed in 2000 and services held first in the collective farm office and later in a movie theater with more space. Services moved in 2003 to the new church building which was consecrated in 2006.
