Svalyava (Byxtry) Ukraine
Ukrainian Orthodox
The church dates back to 1588 when it stood higher on the hill, further from the center of town. The threat of landslides caused it to be moved to the present location; it was moved by train. The church was rebuilt and enlarged in 1759 and consecrated to Archangel Michel at that time. It was closed in 1946. The church was restored in 1972 and put on the list of protected architectural monuments. The church is under the auspices of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and began services again in the early 1990s.
