The church was built between 1766 and 1792 in the fortress of Presnogorkov to serve Siberian Cossacks. The stone and clay brick church is a style called Siberian Baroque. Described in 1900 with two main altars: the cold summer named for the Kazan Mother of God, and the warm winter for St. Nicholas. The church was looted in 1920 and closed in 1935. It was used for grain storage, a fire department, a cultural center and library. The church was revived in 1990 with some repairs allowing religious services in 1991. The church was restored in 2005. It is the oldest church in the Kostanay region.
