Staničenje / Pirot Serbia
Serbian Orthodox
The Church of St. Petka, or St. Paraskeva was long known as the Church of St. Nicholas. It was built in 1331-1332; the open wooden porch added in the 1800s. It was renamed to St. Petka around 1600. The church has one of only three depictions of the White Angel with white wings; it is different from anything known in other Serbian church painting. The angel is shown as Angel Gabriel as part of the myrrhbearers at Christ's tomb.l
